Psychological Therapy

A strong and trusting therapeutic relationship has consistently been shown to be a key factor for achieving positive outcomes in therapy, regardless of the therapeutic orientation used. As such, Dr Crea focuses on building a warm, collaborative, and trusting relationship with each person.

Specifically, Dr Crea works with adults experiencing:

  • anxiety, including OCD

  • depression

  • sleep difficulties and insomnia

  • grief and loss

  • adjustment difficulties including adjusting to life transitions and change

  • stress and performance issues

  • perfectionism

  • low self-esteem

  • relationship difficulties

Her approach is warm, collaborative, evidence based, and importantly strengths based - recognising the unique capabilities, skills and strengths of each person she has the privilege to support. Dr Crea draws upon a variety of therapeutic modalities which she tailors dependent upon each individual client’s needs and preferences. Therapeutic modalities utilised include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), behavioural-based approaches, self-compassion, and mindfulness-based approaches.

Services for children

Dr Crea provides assessment for Autism Spectrum Conditions, ADHD, as well as cognitive and learning assessment for children and adolescents. She is passionate about the early identification of autism in young toddlers and preschoolers and has been fortunate to have received extensive training in the early identification of autism through her previously published Doctoral research with Associate Professor Kristelle Hudry at La Trobe University's Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre. Dr Crea uses gold standard assessment tools, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) to inform her assessments and liaises with the child's doctor, teachers and other health professionals to come to a carefully reasoned opinion on each child she has the privilege to meet. Her reports are informative, detailed, and full of useful resources that children and families can use immediately to support their child now and into the future, regardless of whether a diagnosis is made during the assessment process. Dr Crea has particular expertise in writing reports that families can use to support their application for NDIS funding (where applicable). Further information about assessments is found here.

Further, Dr Crea provides psychological interventions for children on the autism spectrum and their families, including parent coaching, Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) and interventions for behaviours of concern (e.g., aggression), emotional regulation, intervention for anxiety and anger, and positive behaviour support interventions. Her approach is strengths based and neurodiverse-affirming.
