Referrals and Rebates
A referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician is necessary to claim a Medicare rebate for your session. If you have private health insurance extras cover, you may be able to claim a rebate for clinical psychology services where no Medicare rebate is being claimed (i.e., you can claim a rebate from either Medicare or private health insurance, not both). Please check with your insurer about what rebates are available to you under your specific policy.
If you are a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participant and have plan-managed or self-managed funding with psychology services included in your plan, you are able to use your funding to see Dr Crea with no gap.
All of the rebates outlined above are available for both in person and telehealth clinical psychology sessions.
A current GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist referred Mental Health Treatment Plan is required in order to claim the Medicare rebate of $141.85 per session for psychological therapy. If you have reached the Medicare safety net for the current calendar year, the Medicare rebate is higher. It is advisable to book a long GP appointment when seeking a Mental Health Treatment Plan to allow your GP sufficient time to assist you. The initial Mental Health Treatment Plan referral allows you to claim the Medicare rebate for 6 sessions. You will be required to see your GP again after the 6th psychology session to claim Medicare rebates for a further 4 sessions.
A Medicare rebate of $96.65 per session (for a maximum of 8 sessions where the child is present) is also available for Autism assessment and treatment with a current paediatrician or psychiatrist referral.

Intake process
Whilst Dr Crea is experienced in a variety of presenting issues, an intake phone call will be conducted in the first instance to determine whether Dr Crea may be a good fit for your unique situation and needs. Possible alternative avenues to explore will be provided if required.
3
Fees
Dr Crea's fee for a standard 50-55 minute consultation is $270.
Comprehensive child and adolescent clinical assessments, including where there is suspected neurodiversity (e.g., Autism, ADHD, dyslexia) and cognitive and learning assessments take several appointments to complete and will be quoted at the intake call, to ensure that there is sufficient time to answer the referral question. Please contact Dr Crea to enquire.
For example, autism assessments typically comprise 4 hours of consultation ($1080) with a Medicare rebate of up to $386.60 (higher if the Medicare safety net has been reached), leaving a gap/ out of pocket cost of $693.40. Autism Assessments comprise a 1 hour face-to-face appointment for the child, a 2 hour appointment for the parent/carer background interview (in person or telehealth) and a 1 hour parent/carer feedback appointment (usually without the child) which is held after the assessment sessions are completed. A formal assessment report or letter is also provided which details the assessment findings, recommendations and next steps, resources, and provides a professional opinion. Dr Crea's reports can be used as supporting documentation during application for NDIS funding (where applicable).
A non-refundable $100 deposit (deductible against the cost of the assessment) is required to secure the assessment appointments due to the large amount of time set aside for each assessment. Please contact Dr Crea for further information about comprehensive child and adolescent clinical assessmenets (including for referral questions including possible Autism, ADHD, learning and cognitive assessments) to discuss your specific requirements for assessment and to obtain a quote.

Payments
Fees for psychological therapy may be paid via EFTPOS, Mastercard, Visa, or direct deposit on the day of the appointment.
5
A cancellation policy is required so that Dr Crea is able to assist others waiting for appointments. If more than 48 business hours hours notice is given, no cancellation fee is charged. If 24-48 hours notice is given, and the appointment is unable to be filled, a $100 cancellation fee applies to Medicare and private fee paying clients whilst the full fee is charged for NDIS clients which is in line with NDIS guidelines. If less than 24 hours notice is given, and the appointment is unable to be filled, the full fee is charged. Please note that cancellation fees do not attract a Medicare rebate.
